I have known Mike Powell for nearly ten years. During this period he has been employed as a commercial lines underwriter. Mike is very organized and analytical which served him well in the excellent performance of his underwriting duties.
Mike endorsed information technology early on and has learned a great deal through independent course work and self study. Mike is comfortable and adept in the use of Windows based personal computing and the Microsoft Office Suite of products. He is a heavy and familiar user of Excel and has been a real asset in trouble shooting and training others in our office in the use of this application.
Mike was also responsible for the design, development and maintenance of our web site on a voluntary basis.

Mike Powell has worked for me for the last five years as a commercial

Hi Mike! Insured is working on replacing the wc coverage with State of Utah. Rates will be changing with them 120101. If insured cancel now & rewrites coverage with state comp, is he subject to short rate cancellation? Please advise promptly as insured needs to make a decision which way to go.
Also, received your email on your last day at OLR - I sure hate to see you go! Do you have a job lined up? I just want to personally express my gratitude in working with you for the past 4 years. You have been terrific and most helpful. You will definitely be an asset to any company that employs YOU!

Regarding: Michael Powell
Old Republic Insurance Company
Our agency acted as a broker for several different states that applied to Old Republic Insurance Company for insurance coverage.
My duties with the Dyste Williams Agency in Minneapolis MN included underwriting the applications, rating coverages, issuing policies and policy changes.
Old Republic elected not to purchase a new computer system, and without the expertise of Mike Powell no agency representing Old Republic could have accomplished the above.
Mike Powell put together a complicated computer program that integrated the rating of all coverages, processing of policy changes and policy issuance. His Excel and Word Programs could be sent email, a great time saver. He also had the web site for Old Republic in place that we encouraged all customers to refer to. The web site also allowed the option of sending claims via the internet. In addition, Mike put together some extremely useful web sites with links for underwriters/agents to use related to the insurance industry.
I will never have another underwriter like Mike - he always answered his phone and responded to emails the same day. He considered all requests from customers with an open mind, and as a result agents had great respect for Mike Powell's decisions.
Our best wishes go to Mike Powell for continued success with his new employer.
