Quote Document: this was used to total up premiums for an account and faxed to our agents. It includes over 20 different worksheets tabbed together, that either rate the coverages or present the information in different ways. The last 11 tabs are internal forms that I had to complete in order for premium to be entered; these sheets are linked to the other sheets so that all the information automatically transferred. My goal was to enter a piece of information ONCE, to save time and cut down on errors.
Forms List: This sheet was used to choose coverage forms and endorsements to be included on an individual account; after putting an "x" in front of the desired forms, a macro that is started by CTRL-Z automatically sorts the selected forms, first by line of coverage, then by number. I designed this on my own initiative and management implemented it. Before this we were using paper lists for each state that we would photocopy and manually complete, adding 10-15 pieces of paper to each file.
Worker's Compensation Rating Worksheet - Single State
Worker's Compensation Multi-State Premium Discount Calculator: different states have different percentages of "premium discount." This sheet figures each state's proportional part of the total premium and multilplies it by that state's premium discount percentage.
Monthly Premium Worksheet: I used this to total the premium of accounts I bound each month, and automatically show the date that was 20 days from the effective date (our target for finishing our handling of the account).
Renewal Pricing Worksheet: used to determine what percentage of rate increase to use, dependent upon the account's experience.
New Business Pricing Worksheet: - same as renewal but for new customers.
Automobile Liability Experience Rating Worksheet: calculates a credit or debit to the rates proportional to the account's losses for the prior 3 years.
Automobile Physical Damage Experience Rating
General Liability Experience Rating Worksheet
Pro-Rata Calculator: If premium is added or returned in the middle of a policy year, a factor applies that is multiplied by the annual premium proportional to the number of days the change is effective. This sheet figures out this factor by determining the number of days in question and dividing this number by 365 to get the pro-rata factor.
Automobile Endorsement Calculator: Automatically figures the pro-rata premium and enters in the correct spaces on the form we used on our policies to show auto additions or deletions.
Renewal Exposure Comparison: Used to quickly show if the exposures (what the premium calculations are based on - sales, gallons, payroll, # of autos, etc.) from the prior year have gone up or down at renewal.
Automobile Rating Worksheet: Calculates automobile premiums when filled in with basic rates and factors provided by insurance companies.
Quick Loss Ratio Calculator: compares premiums and losses and shows the "loss ratio" which is the lossed divided y the premiums.
Kentucky Premium Tax Calculator
Automobile ID Card - Louisiana: I had to issue a large number of Louisiana auto ID cards so I designed this form to do so (rather than typing them individually)
Monthly Renewal List: I used this to show what accounts were coming up for renewal, and to calculate what date the renewal letters should go out (85 days prior to the renewal date)
Activity Log in Access: My company kept track of accounts, premiums, and account status on Excel spreadsheets. Reports were generated by manually sorting these spreadsheets. I designed an Access database that would have made the reports immediately available. The buttons are macros that make this database easy to use. Management did not implement this because I was the only underwriter familiar with Access.
